La Boscaglia farmhouse is in the middle of the National Park “Bosco delle Carline”. While this part of Tuscany is well known, we are high in the hills in what remains a rather untouched, traditional area.
There are many famous places within easy reach from us;
The renaissance city of Florence with its stunning architecture, museums and humdrum life; Siena and San Gimignano, both very much steeped in their medieval history;
Volterra with is mysterious atmosphere;
Monteriggioni which is formed on a rock that Dante describes in his Divine Comedy;
Massa Marrittima which looks out towards the coast of Follonica, light but majestic.
The Abbey of San Galgano, mystical and evocative, often chosen as a location for weddings and films.
The siena Chianti region, with its incredible views, unforgettable winding roads and great wines to taste.
The coast between Grosseto and Livorno, between beaches, rocks and natural parks like the Park of the Maremma which has beaches that you can only reach by boat or by foot.
The Via Francigena, the antique pilgrim’s road which is fantastic for trekking.
Closer to home:
Radicondoli, our “capital”, bought to life by many cultural and entertaining activities with its theatre, 1st May picnic, the summer festival with music and poetry, the Notti di Giove throughout July and August;
Colle val D’Elsa, an antic jewel still waiting to be discovered;
Chiusdino with its antic streets, leaving you to imagine what it was like to live in these old towns full of history.
A little further away: Lucca, Arezzo, Pistoia, La Garfagnana and all the beauties of Tuscany.
